It is unfortunate that the BP oil spill occurred and it took so long to get capped, but oil workers deserve just as much to be employed as do the fishermen, whose livelihood was temporarily shut down because of the oil spill. As a result of the oil spill, many of those oil workers have been put out of work due to the moratorium on drilling. Many of them will move away from Louisiana and surrounding states, which does have a trickle-down effect on the local economies in those states.

People don't seem to make a connection between environmentalism and it causing unemployment. There is a great deal of money to be made by scientists who are involved in getting research grants to investigate global warming, but very little money is available to research. Environmental groups, scientists, and politicians are costing people their jobs and taking away people's freedom in the name of saving the planet. People succumb to giving up their freedom in exchange for security in the belief that by doing so they are saving the planet.

Mr. Schlink's effort in this book seems sincere but virtually useless. Although this vanity press published, 500-page, $55.00-cover-price pastiche of the evils of ideological environmentalism has a credible premise, it's worthless for serious readers or researchers because it makes every mistake in the amateur's world of ignorance. There are no source notes to tell the reader where to check the facts. There are no interviews with credible sources to support the author's myriad arguments. There are hundreds of snippets taken from copyright material used without permissions and you can't tell where the author got them. The subsidy press that published it at great cost to Mr. Schlink prominently placed a disclaimer of any responsibility for any journalistic or legalistic misdeeds the book might contain, and placed all liability solely on the author and indemnified itself against such liability.
The one star I awarded, however, should shine brightly. This book is touching and heartening because it is solid proof that a power company meter reader, Mr. Schlink's honorable calling, has the brains to see through Big Green propaganda and the guts to sink a small fortune into telling people what a monster the environmentalist movement has become. For that, kudos and great admiration. For the 5 star reviewers, bravo for getting to the meat of the book and ignoring its un-booklike faults.
As a much-published writer who has endured many brutal editors who chopped my work to bits to purify style and cogency and taught me how to write things powerful enough they have been entered into the Congressional Record and have influenced serious national policy, I cringe at Mr. Schlink's amateurishness and I joy at the fact that the intelligent layman exists who can tell it like it is and get five-star reviews from his readers.
My advice to Mr. Shlink is: don't take any writing courses but get this work converted into a Kindle book so more people can read it and so the text is searchable. There's no index in the print edition, which means that if you lose a favorite passage in the book you can't find it to show friends, but a Kindle can find it by searching a single key word in what you're looking for. And just because you don't own a Kindle doesn't mean you can't read a Kindle book - Amazon offers a reader app for Kindle books that you can download for free for your computer.
Anyway, read this book and ignore its massive faults.

Americans Held Hostage by the Environmentalist Movement Bruce Schlink 9781434985415 Books Reviews

Bruce Schlink delves into the realization that people are losing their jobs as well as their faith because of what Environmental Groups, scientists and politicians want you to believe. There is much to be learned by reading his book and you will be amazed at what he presents. I would recommend this book for anyone from students to believers of the Environmental Movement. By reading "Americans Held Hostage for the Environmentalist Movement" you will learn how this portrayal of downfall by scientists has caused people to lose careers along with causing the destruction in some once profitable areas. There is much information to be learned and I think it is a vital read in order to understand the truth presented by Mr. Schlink.
In his book Americans Held Hostage by the Environmentalist Movement, Bruce Schlink presents a compelling argument and a massive amount of evidence for his contention that environmentalism drives many of the economic woes of the nations of the world, with the spotlight obviously focused on the U.S.A. The sheer volume of information presented makes this book an invaluable resource for any citizen interested in the history and direction of the environmentalist movement, and would be an invaluable tool for any student or recent graduate who is considering a career in environmental science or politics. While Mr. Schlink’s conservative views are fearlessly expressed throughout the work, even a person with a liberal bent would benefit from the vast amount of information he has assembled, and allow them the opportunity to prepare to address their critics.
Better then gold.
